Excellent recommendations. I hope you can get your computer to work again.

Please try some other troubleshooting steps here:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/desktop-boards/000005674.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/desktop-boards/000005674.html

Allan.

cpu problems?

Well isn't this a weird font to type in. Either way I have an i5 4440k and I'm having some problems you see my CPU is cold to the touch when I power in my PC (fans are spinning lights are coming on) and the monitors (I have 2 for my gaming PC) and you see it shows no signs of being burnt out like burnt CPU pads but when I popped in my Pentium G3258 the PC worked fine. Any tips on how to make sure its not broken, or dead. THX <3</span>

Hi GlassWolf,

Let me see if i understood your issue correctly: you have a system running an http://ark.intel.com/products/75038/Intel-Core-i5-4440-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_30-GHz Intel® Core™ i5-4440 Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.30 GHz) and the system is not booting up, fans and leds are turned on but no other activity. You move your i5-4400 to a working system running a http://ark.intel.com/products/82723/Intel-Pentium-Processor-G3258-3M-Cache-3_20-GHz Intel® Pentium® Processor G3258 (3M Cache, 3.20 GHz) and it works fine. If that is correct then both processors are fine and you have to troubleshoot anything else but the processor on the not booting up system.

Some recommendations:

- Make sure that the motherboard and BIOS properly support the processor, a BIOS update may be required. Check with the motherboard manufacturer.

- Check power supply and connections to the motherboard.

- Check memory compatibility, try booting up the system without memory, beeping will indicate the board is at least trying to detect the memory.

- Try the system out of the chassis, this is a troubleshooting technique to avoid potential shorting with the chassis.

I hope this helps,

Ronny G
