I7700k reaching temperture 100c without overclocking, reaching 4.5mhz without overclocking

Last week on 15-3-17 bought i7 7700k processor system (assembled) CPU.

when I installed NFS game, core temperture reached 100 c and while playing also it reaches 100c. Even while testing benchmark also temperture reaching 100c system is of liquid cooling system with cool master seidon 120v plus installed.

temperture is more than 95c throughout full running

And without overclocking processor is reaching 4.5 MHz during peak and even in benchmark too.

System configuration

I7 7700k

Gigabyte Z270-HD3P

corsair's vengeance 8gb ram

Cooler master 500w PSU

cooler master seidon 120v plus liquid cooling

Asata SSD premier 550 240 GB

I m totally confused kindly help me i m afraid to use system now

At this point, I suggest you to update your motherboard BIOS, you can check for the latest BIOS version from your computer manufacturer website here:

Make sure your drivers and Windows are up to date as well.

If you are running heavy games and the processor reaches 4.5 MHz, this is normal as it is still under the processor specifications, if it goes beyond that frequency then you will have a problem. 100°C is still fine for this type of processors as you can see here:

As you can see on the link I posted above for the processor specs, the TJUNCTION is 100°C which is still fine for this processor, if it goes beyond that temperature then you will have an overheating problem with this type of processor.

If you do stress tests and the processor reaches a temperature of 100°C that is also fine and when the stress test finishes the temperature will go back to normal.

To check if your processor has some problem, run the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool. The purpose of the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool is to verify the functionality of an Intel® Microprocessor. The diagnostic checks for brand identification, verifies the processor operating frequency, tests specific processor features, and performs a stress test on the processor.

Usually when a system is overheating your computer will shut down or reboot if it senses an overheating issue to prevent damage to components. The BIOS usually reports if a thermal event has occurred.

Under normal working conditions, if all fans are functioning and a CPU still overheats, replace the thermal interface material (TIM) between the heatsink and processor. The TIM eventually hardens on most systems.

thanks for reply

after updating BIOS temperature reduced to 80 C normal full load conditions

but during benchmark test temperature is constantly above 95c sometimes 100C that too without overclocking

ya as u mentioned temperature getting normal when idle and i cannot keep system always under idle that is not the purpose it is bought for...

i think constant high temperature is not good for processor

If you take a look to the processor specifications https://ark.intel.com/products/97129/Intel-Core-i7-7700K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_50-GHz here, that temperature is totally normal is also normal that the processor temperature goes up and down when you do a stress test, if the temperature stays at 100°C and below with this processor that is fine, especially this k processors, they overheat more than normal processors.
