Intel C202 PHC chipset with i5 CPU

I want to use a Supermicro C9SCL-F motherboard with an Intel i5 2400S cpu. This cpu is more energy efficient than it's Xeon counterpart. This cpu however is not supported to be used with the intel C202 PHC chipset. In only supports i3 and Xeon 1200series cpu's.

What problems should i expect when i do use the i5 2400S with this board?

What happens if i do use ECC memory in this system?

Hi,

If the board does not list the CPU as compatible, most likely either the system will not boot at all or it will and may even work, but, please, know it will do so out of specs, which will eventually cause damage to either the board, CPU or memory.

As for ECC, I confirm the Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400S Processor does not support it:

Hence, as a piece of advice, always go by the supported/compatibility list of the board.
