Hello,

I just installed a core i7 2600 Sandy Bridge, and i am having problems with the cpuid instruction (works fine with a core i3 530 Clarkdale):

The cpuid functions 0Ah (Architectural Performance Monitor Features) and 0Bh (x2APIC Features/Processor topology) always reply with EAX=0 ans EBX=0.

The cpuid function 00h indicates a cpuid level of 0Dh.

Therefore, according to the document http://www.intel.com/assets/pdf/appnote/241618.pdf http://www.intel.com/assets/pdf/appnote/241618.pdf dated January 2011,the functions 0Ah and 0Bh should be operational.

Is this related to Sandy Bridge design, or could it be caused by the motherboard BIOS (Gigabyte GA-H67MA-D2H-B3 rev1.1-bios F4, running Windows Server 2008R2 SP1)?

I have not been able to locate any Intel documentation specifically related to Sandy Bridge cpuid behaviour.

Thank you in advance.
