      <title>Question on Enhancing CPU Utilization</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I had a computer with E6600 processor vista 32 bit, working duel core with two threads, when running a calculating program it utilized 100% of one core (and one thread) thus the CPU in total was using 50% of it's capacity. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;I now upgraded to i5 650, windows 7 64 bit, which has a duel core and FOUR threads, due to this during calculations the CPU now utilizes only one thread at 100%, so that the total CPU usege is only 25%. &lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;The end result is that since the calculating software seems to mainly be using only one thread, the new computer does the calculation in more time then the old one. &lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;Is there any way to have the CPU use at least one complete core (two threads) and thus work on 50% of it's capacity? &lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;Gideon</description>
