But, it is not supported on any of the modern Operating Systems. Its performance is pathetic (in today's world), memory is limited, and cannot run 64-bit applications or run a 64-bit os.

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/27231/intel-core-duo-processor-t2050-2m-cache-1-60-ghz-533-mhz-fsb.html

Yes, I understand attachment to hardware.

Hi, how are you? I hope well. I own a DeLL Inspiron 6400 with a T2050 processor inside it. I want to upgrade! I saw that with iGMA945 the models T5500, T5600 and T7400 are supported, right? Two questions:

The chipset is 945, but the southbridge has influence about the CPU upgrade?

And the last question:

I saw that a person said that T7400 isn't compatible since it has 4 MB cache and the Inspiron 6400 only supports 2 MB CPUs. But I maintain the image that Intel's site ark.intel.com said that T7400 is compatible. Should I buy a T5600 or T7400? Cheers.

You need to ask dell what processors are supported on THEIR BIOS. Then, you can select from those.

An upgrade processor must be socket, chipset, AND BIOS COMPATIBLE.

Now, in my opinion, trying to upgrade from a processor made in 2006 will do you little good. Use your money and time to invest in a new(er) device.

Doc
