&lt;P&gt;Updating drivers has nothing to do with your data and should not affect it. However, there are many causes that you may loose your data, as result of hardware failure, or software corruption (software can be corrupted from many reasons). So, in order to protect your data, always have updated backup.&lt;/P&gt;
