Hi kele5,

The centrino 2 is a combination of CPU, network adapter and chipset. I am pretty sure that that CPU could be part of a centrnio 2 platform, but of course the other components would have to be centrino 2 validated as well. it's a silly thing but does it have the centrino 2 sticker on it?

If you want post the model of laptop and it can be looked at.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Bought a Notebook this week from HP. It has a P8600 processor. They assured me that combined with an n-card, this notebook is a centrino 2. Now I am getting different answers from them.

Can anyone please explain. I hate to buy old technology and get ripped off at same time.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply.

I actually had it customized and it will be delivered this week.

The model is dv4tse.

The reason I started doubting them is they all of a sudden discontinued that model, between last week and yesterday. Would have been nice if they told me it was going to be discontinued.

But I guess I should have done some more homework.

Just got it and it has the centrino 2 sticker. Hope that settles that.

Yep, that pretty much settles it, HP wouldn't be allowed to put the sticker on if it wasn't a centrino2 platform.
