I am learning Source Kernel of Linux. And in cpufreq framework, I was confused about performance frequency and P state which are to adjust cpu's frequency.

And I found performance and P state are related to frequency。

So what is different about them?

Kongrong, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

In order to provide the most accurate response to your inquiry, we will do further research on this matter. For us to be able to do that:

What is the model of your Intel® processor?

What is the model of your motherboard?

If this is a laptop, what is the model of it?

Any questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Albert R.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Hi Alberto,

My laptop is ThinkBook 14G2 ITL

CPU : 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1155G7 @ 2.50GHz

But the question about them is from Linux Source Code, especially intel_pstate.c.

Regards,

Hi Kongrong, Thank you very much for providing that information.

For this scenario, it is important to mention that Linux* has been validated by Intel® as an official supported Operating System for this unit, as you can confirm here:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000032181/processors/intel-core-processors.html

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/search.html?ws=idsa-suggested#q=1155g7&sort=relevancy&f:@tabfilter=[Downloads]

Based on that and on the fact that your inquiry is about Linux Source Code, I will do further research on this matter to try to gather the information you are looking for or to point you in the right direction for additional technical assistance. As soon as I get any updates, I will post all the details on this thread.

Regards,

Albert R.
