Have any of you encountered a similar case?

Is it normal?

I don't think so.

Below is a screenshot from XTU with a graph showing the "decreases" of max core frequency.

Thanks in advance for any info.

edit. the behavior is more common when idle.

1. Did you notice any performance issues or crashes?

2. Did you change the base frequency of the CPU or RAM?

3. I noticed that the utilization is on 0 and the max core frequency is on 5.42GHz. Is that what you meant?

4. Is the BIOS on the default setting?

5. What is the operating system installed as well as the version and build?

6. Can you provide more details about your issue?

ok, let's get started! let's try to solve this problem.

First, some info about the hardware.

processor 13600KF
motherboard MSI MAG Tomahawk z790 DDR4
RAM Goodram IRDM Pro 2 x 16GB, 3600Mhz
graphics card GF 3080, 10 GB

Ad. 1

Yes. and a little no. let me explain.

while using "windows" - browser, music, movie, etc. everything seems to be working normally.

BUT when playing games, with these strange core frequency drops, it crashes.

Ad. 2

Yes and yes.

core frequency was "speed optimized" with XTU.

memory is on XMP I mode.

Ad. 3

no, utilization is not of interest at the moment.

note the "max core frequency", white graph. you will notice three bumps there. These are the moments when the game can crash.

Ad. 4

almost.

the memory profile has been changed. XMP profile.
CPU is slightly undervolted.

those crashes are the worst. enjoyment of use is low with such problems.

secondly, almost every time I start the system, when starting XTU, I get a notification about system instability. therefore "overclocking" is reset to factory settings. it's frustrating.

I started looking for the cause of this. correlated these core frequency "jumps" with crashes.

it doesn't matter if the processor is in default mode or overclocked.

there is also no difference regarding XMP profile being enabled or not.

what to do next? where to look for the cause?

in the processor?
in the motherboard?
in the power supply?
in device compatibility?

everything is new.

I'm curious what you can suggest.

Thanks for the confirmation. I would like to let you know that altering clock frequency or voltage may damage or reduce the useful life of the processor and other system components and may reduce system stability and performance. Product warranties may not apply if the processor is operated beyond its specifications. Check with the manufacturers of the system and components for additional details.

Is this issue present when teh CPU is running at base frequency?
Did you check that the RAM is running to the supported frequency (DDR4 3200)?

Yes. It doesn't matter if the CPU is overclocked or not.

Ad. 2
Yes. RAM running on supported frequency. It doesn't matter if the ram is on XMP or not.

My question is whether the situations "captured" on the charts are normal?

Thanks for the confirmation. In order to investigate this behavior, I will need the following:

1. Can you take a video where can see the max core frequency drops?

2. Provide the report from the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU):

Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18377/intel-system-support-utility-for-windows.html
Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
To save your scan, click Next and click Save.
