Does this processor support hm75 chipsets? The intel specifications webpage for the i7 3740qm is missing the compatible products section for the chipsets.

It should be supported. Now, using an i7-3740qm with an existing system is a separate question. Processor has to be socket, chipset and BIOS compatible. That is, the BIOS must include support for this particular processor.

Hi, yes I have checked and the sockets are compatible, unfortunately bios compatibility for laptops doesn't seem to be 'shared information' so I can only guess if TDP draw will be an issue until I try. Cheers for the information:)
