After upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11, will the SGX driver continue to be loaded for my Coffee Lake (i7-9700k) platform ?

The i7-9700k supports SGX and is Windows 11 compatible

Thanks for waiting for a response.

As you mentioned your processor supports SGX, however, any driver matter-related needs to be checked with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). I also would recommend contacting Microsoft to confirm if there is any limitation on the operating system for SGX.

I hope you find this information useful. In case you have any other questions regarding your issue, let me know.

Best regards,

Jean O.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Jean,

No, your supplied information is actually incorrect.

SGX is Intel developed technology.

The SGX driver is an INTEL supplied driver !

check this link.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/683952/intel-software-guard-extensions-intel-sgx-driver-and-data-center-attestation-primitives-intel-sgx-dcap.html

As you can see, the supplied driver covers Windows10 family and Windows11 family, so your advice to contact Microsoft regarding any limitation on the Operating System for SGX does not make sense.

Why would I need to contact Microsoft, it’s an Intel driver, compatible with Windows11.

I will re-state my question.

My Coffee Lake Windows 10 platform loads the SGX driver, and SGX is functioning correctly.

If I upgrade my platform to Windows 11 (supported by Intel i7-9700k - Coffee Lake), will the SGX driver continue be loaded and will SGX continue to function correctly.

Thanks,

Thanks for your response.

Keep in mind that driver support and compatibility details rely on the OEM of your system, due to they having more control over your unit and may understand better if the operating system may affect your unit's SGX. Remember that OEMs normally perform some changes on their systems that we are unaware of, so the best practice regarding your query is to confirm it with your system OEM.

I hope you find this information useful.

Best regards.

Jean O.

Intel Customer Support Technician.

Your reply makes no sense.

"driver support and compatibility details rely on the OEM of your system"

I have already checked the Asus compatibility list for my motherboard (Asus Z-390 A)

This is the Asus statement concerning the Windows 11 upgrade.

"If your existing Windows 10 PC is running the most current version of Windows 10 and meets the above minimum hardware specifications, it can be upgraded to Windows 11."

My platform meets the minimum hardware requirements including the processor (i7-9700K coffee lake)

There are no other caveats, other than confirming that TPM is required to be enabled in the BIOS to permit the Windows 11 upgrade.

Your reply isn't helpful. As far as Asus are concerned the only requirement for SGX is that it is enabled in the BIOS (which it is). SGX has been functioning correctly under Windows 10. The SGX driver is supplied by Intel, my question relates to the driver and you haven't answered it.

Thanks,

There is a utility which verifies SGX is correctly activated, but I need to locate it again. It’s a while since I needed to test it.

But, you can verify that the service is running correctly:

To verify that Intel SGX PSW is running, use the following command from a DOS admin cmd prompt

sc query AESM service

The state of the service should be "running"

Also,

what options do you have in the BIOS for SGX ?

Are you able to use the enabled option for SGX ?

BIOS and switch Intel SGX from "software controlled" to "enabled"

Yes, that is already done as stated in my post. The SGX is enabled in the Bios. I just keep getting an error message from Cyberlink 20, to download the Intel Management Engine Software. I have downloaded it three times, and still cannont play a Ultra 4K DVD on my 8930 Desktop.

The Cyberlink blu-Ray advisor tool is crap, but have you tried running the Corel UHD blu-Ray advisor, it may indicate if you have issues with your SGX setup. Does your setup pass ?
