OMG, you should not have accepted the delivery if the packaging was disturbed in any way. Likely, this was a returned - and used - processor.

As a first step, download and run the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool. See if it also detects the problem (fails). If it does, you have the evidence for a RMA from Intel.

In that case, after verifying that your warranty is active (here: Determine if Your Product Is Still Under Warranty), you then need to directly contact Intel Customer Support to initiate the RMA process (you cannot do this here). You can start here: Contact Intel Support or use this page: Intel Support Phone Directory to look up local/country phone numbers.

You can use the online forms service or email to initiate this process, but I recommend calling Intel directly. The above links provide access to local or toll-free numbers for most countries and these numbers provide support for most local languages. You could also use the chat service (start here: Intel Customer Support Chat), but understand that this service is offered only in English and is subject to the normal (9:00-5:00 M-F) office hours in the Pacific (UTC-8) time zone.

Hope this helps,

...S

Got an 11900k and has been running fine for about a month but recently I’ve have random crashes. Aida64 runs for about 30secs stops due to hardware potential failure. Memtest86 says cpu 0 error. Under load core 0 is running 20c plus higher than any other core? Do I have a bad chip? Amazon sent me a “brand new” i9. Shipping box was fine buuuut the Intel box was damaged inside. I thought the chip looked fine and since I needed my oc for work I tried it out and it worked great for a couple months but now all of a sudden this issue. Any thoughts?
