Weird i9 14900K P-Core #4/5 temperatures

hey guys,

I built my PC a month ago, and been monitoring the temps for a while now and now I see that P-core #4 and #5 have like around 15 celsius degree higher than other P-Cores.

One thing to keep in mind, when I was installing my AIO LS720S Zero Dark, my finger came a little bit on the side of the thermal paste and slightly pushed it from its place (Not fully removed)

I even tried using Gigabyte F6d "Intel Default Settings" BIOS update and still P-core #4 fluctuates.

Can someone tell me what could be causing it or if its normal?, like it reaches high Maximums but the average is very close to other normal P-cores.

For example when I run Apex Legends, my P-Core #4 goes to 90 while other cores are like 10-15 degress less than the P core #4 or 5 or smth.

I Run "Ultimate performance power plan"

Also 1 more thing, Sometimes on HWINFO, I see Core thermal throttling on Maximum "YES" even though None of the cores reached TjMax, shown in a picture.

Full PC Specs:

i9 14900K

Z790 AORUS ELITE X AX

Gigabyte 4070 Super Gaming OC

T-Force Delta 32GB 7200MHz CL34

Lian Li 216 case.

WD SN850x 1TB

Hey Michael,

1. I noticed this a few times when PC was idle (Windows could've possibly done something)

- When browsing temperature is around 68-75

- When gaming Temp is around 85-90

2. No, never experienced any crashes.

3. Yes 7200Mhz T-Force Delta 32GB (2x16) CL34

4. In BIOS the CPU shows between 32-36

I have High Performance Power plan right now instead of Ultimate performance.

Also, when I launch Apex Legends from Steam, sometimes the maximum reaches 95-98, sometimes 78-85. but then temp goes back to normal afterwards.

1. Yes currently on "Intel Default Settings" BIOS version for Z790 AORUS ELITE X AX (F6d BIOS version)

2. DeepCool LS720S ZERO DARK (360mm)

Hey,

I did the stress test by using the tool you provided, It passed and everything is fine.

But again I check HWmonitor, temps are fine for Stress test, but it shows that core thermal throttling on Maximum coloumn is "YES"

even though nothing reached TjMax.

And also, we suggest conducting an Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) test, checking the temperature reading inXTU, and comparing the results with those from Hwinfo64. Hey,

Yeah, I think I will get used to it sometimes rapidly reaching around 95 and goes back to normal, so it should be fine as in the links you provided.

So I guess its a normal thing specially for i9 14900K, as long as the averages are around 60s after around an hour of gaming, so my CPU should be fine and no thermal issues nor bad AIO contact issue.
