Hello AnalogueFan,

Thank you for the quick reply.

The best practice is to always check the system requirement and hardware compatibility of the software to avoid issues.

As for our processor, you can go to this link and filter using Processor Base frequency. By using this, you can get the list of the processor with your desired base speed.

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/search/featurefilter.html?productType=873

Ark website is where you can get the specifications of our products. You can also check this link on how to use this link:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000057252/processors.html

If you have questions, please let us know.

What is the best way to read the specs to determine the base clock speed? I have an application that needs a base clock speed of 3.4GHz (according to their own support team). There are so many specs listed for Intel processors.

Some other forums are stating that AMD Ryzen 5 typically outperforms the Intel i5 series except when it comes to single-core performance, which is what I'm most concerned with. I guess, more specifically, I'm trying to figure out which Intel processor is "equivalent" to the AMD Ryzen 5 8640hs? It's base clock speed is 3.5GHz, which, as I understand, is the peformance of a single core. The application I mentioned in the original post does NOT run on multiple cores so I'm looking for the single-core performance specs for processors. Ideally, at least 3.4GHz.

It's not that simple. The app is called Gig Performer. It's a virtual synthesizer host app that can run thousands of plugins in the VST format. It's not so much the requirements of the app, but of the plugins, and they're all different. The more popular plugin creator is Arturia and some of their plugins are more CPU-intensive than others. Arturia does not recommend processors, but rather provides minimum recommendations and they have specifically said 3.4GHz with boost to 4.0GHz.

Gig Performer (and by extension all of the plugins) run on a single core because they must process audio in series. Therefore, I am told that the computer's processor must have a "base clock speed" of 3.4GHz. I assume that means that the processor can perform at 3.4GHz on a single core. That's what's important to running Gig Performer and many of the plugins.

I can't easily determine the "base clock speed" or what a single core of an Intel processor can run at based on how the specs are listed.

Bottom line is that I need to know if Intel lists the speed at which a single core can run at. If so, which spec is that figure? I need a processor that can run at 3.4GHz (or higher) on a single core so that Gig Performer and its plugins run as efficiently as possible.

I've visited that link and used it multiple times already. The Base Clock Frequency isn't listed for a good many of the processors in the filtered results. I actually have a case open with Support about this and they've been looking into it.
