Hi,

My CPU was very badly degraded and in the process with another intel Rep to get a refund on the CPU. But it has been very hard to achieve this with having only one PC. I had to do a new re-build on my system to remove the intel i9 14900k, this does not mean if I were to buy another intel CPU I will not face the same issue down the road. So, I cannot go with another intel platform build. Kinda sucks I’ve used intel for about 20 years.

Thanks for the response.

Sarrion970

hi all,

ok so after getting a NEW replacement CPU from the RMA is it going to be the same issue after patching with the 0x129 micro code? I mean should I just get a refund and move on to AMD?

but again, AMD looks like a headache to be honest, installing a new motherboard and CPU then have to reinstall windows also, not sure if I want to do all that... AMD recommends installing the OS for the 7950X3D CPU. so, what is everyone else going to do? or what do you think? will the RMA be ok after patch??

Hi Sarrion970,

Apologies for the delay in my response.

We recommend updating BIOS with Microcode 0x129 for systems configured with 13th and 14th Generation Processors with CPUID 0xB0671.

Just to add, the microcode update (0x129) will limit voltage requests above 1.55V as a preventative mitigation for processors not experiencing instability symptoms. This microcode update will primarily improve operating conditions for K/KF/KS processors, with less impact on non-K Series processors. Analysis is ongoing to address other scenarios that can result in this Vmin shift on Intel Core 13th and 14th Gen desktop processors (list of vulnerable processors is here Additional Warranty Updates on Intel Core 13th/14th Gen Desktop Processors - Intel Community). Intel will share a progress update on this analysis by end of August.

For more details about the Warranty of Intel processors, kindly check this link:

Warranty Guide for Intel® Processors

We can help you with the troubleshooting if you want, however if you really wish to claim warranty, please contact your local warranty support team for them to gather the needed details and validate your processor.
