Which Intel processors are internally divided into nodes. When I call numa_distance I only get 1 node. On a AMD EPIC 64 core processor, I get 8x8 nodes.

We have a commercial software product which runs on all Intel processors. I was hoping for a generic answer. From what we have been able to determine:

1. Processors with 9 or fewer cores have a single memory controller (numa_distance=1)

2. Processors with 10 or more controllers have 2 memory controllers (numa_distance=1 or 2)

3. Systems with multiple sockets will have numa_distance 2 or more.

4. Memory controllers can interleave memory access. For best performance have 2 memory chips per memory controller.

Is this correct?
