USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller Not Working with Connected USB 3 SuperSpeed Device

My laptop has a "USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller" (seen in System Information) and the specs from the manufacturer say the following about the USB ports on the sides of the laptop...

2 x USB Type-A SuperSpeed ports

1 x USB Type-C

My assumption then is that these align with the USB 3.1 Gen 1 specification.

The Problem - I have a peripheral device that is not getting recognized by my laptop. This device has the following host controller requirements.

- a USB 3 SuperSpeed (Type-A or Type-C port)
- IF-certified USB 3 SuperSpeed cable (Type-A to Type-C, or Type-C to Type-C)

When I connect and power on my peripheral device (Universal Audio audio interface), I get a warning, via the installed UA vendor software that reads...

"Universal Audio USB devices require SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to operate properly, but a USB 3.0 connection is not detected."

From my limited knowledge, the requirements on my laptop seem to have been met in terms of supporting the USB audio interface. I am not sure what the problem is and am looking for feedback.

Note - I have tried numerous cables and tried using the USB Type-A and Type-C ports, but the problem remains.

One more piece of information is the information about the USB Host Controller information...

What color are the USB-A ports? If they're black, this means USB 2.
USB-C ports are definitely USB 3, so should work.

The USB-A ports have a brushed silver exterior which matches the color of the laptops exterior.

No, no, no, Look at the plastic tab in the center of the USB-A connector itself. It will be black for USB2 and blue for USB3.

It looks black to me but has 'SS' next to it so it should be USB 3.x. Plus I found this article which indicates...
