I5-14600KF Crashing

I've just bought a new pc with an intel I5-14600KF processor and every now and then my computer crashes. Due to the instability issues with 14th gen processors I suspect the issue is with my processor. How can I fix this?

I am happy to provide you fixes for the issue that you are experiencing. I just need to get the following information:

1. It would really help us if we can get more information about your system. Please download and run our Intel® System Support Utility from this page. To run it, please press "Scan". After the scan is finished, click next and there will be a save button, giving you an option to save the logs to a text file, please do so and attach the file on your reply. You can refer to How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows* for instructions.

2. Does the system crash randomly usually when you are playing games?

It mainly crashes when I play games. Swapping tabs while gaming seems to make it worse however it can crash without me seemingly doing anything.

We appreciate your prompt reply.

Before everything, the current fix for random crashes for your CPU is to update your BIOS to the version that enables you to load “Intel Default Settings”. When I check your motherboard’s download site though, it is perplexing to find out that there are no BIOS updates that allows you to activate the above-mentioned set of settings. You can find updates regarding this issue on this page.

For this reason, please check with MSI first if they have a BIOS that allows you to use “Intel Default Settings”. Alternatively, if you are comfortable in changing parameters in your system’s BIOS, there is a table on the link that I referenced above for the settings that you need to change.

Additionally, from my experience with the MSI boards, here are the possible equivalents of the settings on the table mentioned above:

· BIOS Manual (https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/mb/Intel600BIOS.pdf)

· IA CEP Support -Enable

· GT CEP Support -Enable

· TVB Voltage Optimizations

· Long Duration Power Limit: 181 W

· Short Duration Power Limit: 181 W

· CPU Current Limit: 200A

· Intel C-State - Enabled

Below are the other settings that need to be changed if they are available; however, we cannot confirm through the manual if they can be modified in BIOS. Kindly confirm with MSI if there is a way to activate the following settings of if they are there but in a different name:

· eTVB (Enhanced Thermal Velocity Boost) Enable

· TVB (Thermal Velocity Boost) Enable

· ICCMAX Unlimited Bit Disable

· TjMAX Offset 0

· ICCMAX_App

It is imperative though that you still check with MSI to ensure that the settings above are the equivalents on what is found on the table on this page.

Lastly, if you still experience the same problems after modifying the above settings, please reach out to Intel Customer Support for further assistance.

I was able to enter my bios and change the long and short duration power limit to 181W and the CPU currently limit to 200A but I couldn't find the other settings to change them. This hasnt fixed the issue of crashes.

Since our recommendations did not resolve the issue, the processor that you are using is faulty. Is the unit still within 30 days from the date that you purchased the item? If yes, please check if you can return the CPU to your place of purchase for warranty.
