One potential source of this is that Windows Update downloads driver updates silently, that it is without notifying you that it is doing so. So Windows Updates may be constantly downloading the older version of the NPU driver and overwriting the newer version.

A list of Driver Updates can be found at Settings->Windows Update->Update History->Driver Updates that will confirm whether this is happening or not.

If this is the source of the issue the only solution is to block Windows Update from downloading any driver updates.

This was posted by the moderator of one of the Microsoft forums about how to do this

"...Disable under Group Policy

Follow this method if you are using Windows 10 Pro/11 Pro or above versions as Group Policy is not available in Windows 10 Home/11 Home

Press Windows key + R key to open Run command box

Type gpedit.msc in the box and click on OK

Expand folders from left column: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Manage updates offered from Windows update

From the list select Do not include drivers with Windows Updates

Double click on it and select Enabled, and click on Apply and then OK...".

Hi!

Same here, mobo Z890 Aorus Elite Wifi7 + Ultra 7.

Intel itself should be updating the Microsoft Update with the latest drivers to date. This has been kind of a nuisance to us. and to tell us to disable certain features of windows should not be a practice. Aren't we talking about Intel here? this should not be an excuse of not doing the proper ways.

Myself, I'm not disabling anything that wasn't suppose to do. i'll keep updating through Gigabyte GCC or manually until this issue resolved officially through proper ways. C'mon Intel!! <LI-EMOJI id="lia_crying-face" title=""></LI-EMOJI>
