I suspect i have a defect/faulty processor. I bought it about 6 months ago. I had issues from start with game crashing, random bluescreens, random errors, stuttering games and crashing on startup on all unreal engine 5 games to the point now I cant even play the games.

I have tried updating all other hardware in my pc, updated bios, and all drivers, and tried all "fixes" I can find, like running games in win 8 compatibility mode etc. But nothing helps. It got worse and worse and now I cant play at all since games dont start at all. Just crashes.

How to I get my cpu replaced? I paid for something that is not working at all, resulting in me spending way too much money and time on something I never should have had to in the first place.

I am using:

* Asus ROG Strix z790-F Gaming WiFi motherboard
* Windows 11
* Bios version 2801 (which I updated from around a year older version just about a week ago)

* I never overclocked the CPU, but rather underclocked it 3% for awhile to have slightly less crashes while playing ARK ascended.

Hello FruPizza,

Thank you for sharing your information to me, there is a new BIOS update in which you can try to update your BIOS to the version 3001. This BIOS update has the new release of Microcode 0x12F which still address the instability. This is the new microcode that Intel has distributing through OEM's and ODM. As such please try updating and test your system after see what will be the outcome.

Best regards,

Dhanniel M.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Hello FruPizza,

I'm following up to see if you've had a chance to review my recommendation. With the latest microcode update now available from the motherboard manufacturer, I suggest updating to it to see if it resolves the issue. At your earliest convenience, please let me know the outcome of the update.

Best regards,

Dhanniel M.

Intel Customer Support Technician

I got my CPU replaced by my retailer. Since updating bios the first time did nothing to help i came to the conclusion that the hardware was defect and there was no point in updating bios again.

I updated to the most recent bios for my new cpu and I am hoping the bios will stop it from deteriorating this time.
