topic Identifying processor in Mobile and Desktop Processors

The intel website says the way to identify a intel core processor is the number after for example the "i5" for example the i5-760. But researching online it says this is a first generation processor, not 7th gen like you would think because the seven is after the i5-. So I'm confused?

The i5-760 was part of the Lynnfield architecture range of processors introduced between 2009 and 2010. At that time the practice of using the first part of the processor number to indicate generation had not begun. Neither was there any consistent use of xxx60 to indicate an i5. So Lynnfield included the i5 760 and the i7-860.
