Thank you, @AlHill, for your detailed and helpful reply.

* Yes, I have now searched, and found that CCleaner is not always reliable for driver updates — thanks. Yes, they do have a paid version with driver updates, but I wanted to do it myself if possible. After reading the web, however, I won't use CCleaner for the job.

* An no, I am not having problems. It was something that seemed a good idea before finally updating the PC to Windows 11 24H2. (That has now gone well, without any obvious driver problems.)

* Yes, I have checked the box for optional Windows updates, and there has been nothing.

* The PC was made by a local techie, who wanted me to bring it back for occasional updates rather than reading the motherboard and system myself — I think the PC is a bit of a hybrid.

My problem was the inscrutable Intel terminology, and the unhelpful website. Surely they can be a little kinder to experienced non-techies. But given my PC's origin, it is probably better that I take no further steps by myself, and return it to the original PC maker.

Problem: CCleaner has sent me a note saying that four Intel drivers need updating:

* Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (17) 1219-V

Update available: 12.19.2.62 (released 2024-07-18T00:00:00Z)

* Intel(R) Management Engine interface #1

Update available: 2441.7.0.0 (released 2024-10-07T00:00:00Z)

* Intel(R) GNA Scoring Accelerator module

Update available: 3.5.0.1578 (released 2023-11-14T00:00:00Z)

* Intel(R) Serial IO GPIO Host Controller - INTC1056

Update available: 30.100.2417.30 (released 2024-04-24T00:00:00Z)

Actions: I have installed the Intel Driver and Support Assistant, but they are not mentioned there.

I have searched the Intel website for the downloads, but I cannot find them.

I cannot send a support email to Intel, because I have no idea what these drivers are, and what category each fits under.

QUESTIONS:

1. How do I update these drivers?

2. I have been used Windows PCs on a daily basis since 1989, with programming experience since 1989 and earlier. Why is Intel's website so obscure, and why is it so difficult to find out what is going on?

Windows 11 PC, 23H2 Build 22631.5472

Just because CCleaner says you need to update these drivers does not necessarily mean that you have to.

Are you having any problems? If not, sometimes it is best to leave well enough alone.

And, doesn't ccleaner/avast/avg have a driver updater? For them to tell you to update without telling you how is not very helpful.

Have yuou checked the downloads for your system/motherboard?

Have you checked the optional windows updates?

Doc (not an Intel employee or contractor)
[IDSA needs to be abandoned, uninstalled and forgotten]
