Good Morning,

I have a problem installing the Intel AI Boost driver, which after installation displays a driver error (code 43).

I noticed that the problem occurs when switching the Corsair Vengeance CUDIMM DDR5 8000tm CL38 CMHC48GX5M2X8000C38 memory mode to the XMP profile. When i disable the profile and the memory switches from 8000tm mode to the standard 5600tm mode, everything works fine. How can I solve this problem? i would like to mention that this problem does not only occur on the above Corsair boards, but also on others. The processor i have is an Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF and MSI Z890 Gaming Plus WiFi. Even after enabling the XMP profile and correctly installing the driver, AI boost does not work correctly and throws an error when trying to check the correct operation of the device. Could this be caused by a damaged or bad memory controller in the processor?

with respect Martin...

Good Morning,
thank you for your interest in my problem.

Unfortunately, I have tried everything from drivers, firmware updates, various BIOS configurations and the BIOS update itself, reinstalling Windows 11 Pro. Unfortunately, the problem persists. I have no strength left. I am disappointed with the lack of compatibility of new Intel systems.

Yes, I have tried everything possible, including the latest Intel® Management Engine driver ver. 2514.7.16.0. Unfortunately, this didn't help at all. I'm out of ideas and energy for this problem and I'm thinking about changing the platform.

I also have the NPU showing as an issue in Device Manager, also code 43. I am on a similar configuration to yours, MSI Z890 Tomahawk motherboard, Intel Core Ultra 7 265K processor, and Corsair Dominator DD5 7200 MT/s CL36 (CMP48GX5M2X7200C36) - I wanted to get CUDIMM memory as it unlocks more of this platforms potential but this is very rare to come by here in South Africa.

I've searched around and found quite a lot of people reporting the same on other forums (ASUS, Reddit, Spiceworks). I ultimately resolved mine by changing my XMP profile from 2 to 1. I initially put memory back to standard and the NPU loaded normally, put it to XMP1 and it still loaded, when I put it to XMP2 the NPU showed as a problem again, but when I put it back to XMP1 it worked again.

I cannot say whether this alone resolved the problem as various other things were tried in all sorts of combinations, some of them I'll list below:

uninstalling and deleting drivers from the driver repository store using RAPR

trying the initial set of drivers installed

disabling 200S boost

changing performance profiles in the BIOS (only relevant and possible once 200S boost is disabled)

changing PCIE power management settings)

I have restored most of the settings back now, I think the only thing I haven't is the PCIE power management settings. 200S Boost and XMP is enabled again, as otherwise I'm not getting the performance out of the hardware purchased. Technically speaking the XMP2 profile is an overclock profile for the memory modules I have, it pushes them up to 7400 MT/s from the 7200 MT/s it is rated/specced as being, so am happy at least to be getting the stated performance and not have to fall back to "standard" at 4800 MT/s.

Given the postings on other forums with motherboards from different vendors, different memory and different SKU processors I'm inclined to think there is either a hardware issue or limit or an issue in the drivers and firmware of the platform. I say this as I also note that I have the following warning in my Windows System logs for event ID 219, the hardware ID referenced in the message is for that of the NPU, but this warning is appearing even though the device has loaded normally and is working (confirmed by an OpenVINO framework benchmark run in Geekbench AI). It is possible that this message is due to one of the security features in Windows though (e.g. core isolation/memory integrity etc.) as I have seen this elsewhere before with completely different devices and drivers.

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load.
Device: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_AD03&SUBSYS_7E321462&REV_01\3&11583659&0&20
Status: 0xC0000365

I've posted as much information that I think is relevant as I'm hoping you may find commonalities and either resolve your issue or the people at Intel are able to find the issue and note it (that it may give issues in certain configuration setups) or resolve it (if it is a driver/firmware issue).

Nnfortunately, at the moment I have no solution or ideas to solve this problem, everyone tells me to check everything I've already done. I throw up my hands and slowly give up. It's a bit irritating and absurd for me to spend money on not entirely competent equipment. I don't want to go back to AMD, but if Intel continues to act this way, I will unfortunately be inclined to say goodbye to this platform, because I have no words or strength left for what the blue ones have been doing lately...

But in response to your message I have tried everything you wrote including all types of bios, drivers and reinstallation of the Windows system. I have wasted a lot of time on diagnosing the problem which, as you mentioned, many users are struggling with. I am waiting for some progress in updates until the end of the month, if nothing improves I am getting rid of Intel once and for all and changing the platform, I do not intend to waste time on something that should work as well as it cost me.

It's just a shame that a once prestigious brand is becoming a technological failure day by day and I personally think that AI is nothing good and is actually the perfect key to pure failure.

Thank you for the tip. Unfortunately, I've already tried all the options you mentioned, and they all ended in failure. The problem, however, is the processor's memory controller, which simply doesn't properly handle modules that try to boot from an XMP profile above 7200 MHz. Everything I've managed to set to a fixed frequency of 7200 MHz works correctly above that frequency, resulting in Intel AI boost driver errors.

Thank you for your answer,
yes, the error code stops appearing as soon as I lower the memory clock speed to 7200MHz. Anything above this frequency throws an Intel AI boost driver error.

Hello again,
I just noticed that my motherboard manufacturer released a BIOS update, which I immediately installed. To my surprise, the NPU was working correctly without any errors at full speed with the CUDIMM memory (8000MT). I don't know what the problem was, but the manufacturer states on their website that the update includes fixes:
- Resolve problems with display settings.
- Support Intel MR3.
- Update GOP.

For now, everything is working as it should, with a noticeable performance improvement, which is a big plus...

Best regards,

I have an Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF and MAG Z890 TOMAHAWK WIFI, the latest BIOS for the motherboard I have doesn't include Intel MR3, it only goes to Intel MR1.

Hopefully when MSI update the BIOS for my board, it will solve the issue, as I'm also having NPU errors if DDR5 speed exceeds anything above DDR5-6400, and my CUDIMM kit is rated for DDR5-8200.

I have the same motherboard as you, a new firmware 7E32v1A90 with the MR3 update included has just been released and published.

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-Z890-TOMAHAWK-WIFI/support#bios

I've just updated to it, so far so good, but I'm not running a CUDIMM kit. I've been waiting for a 96 GB kit as 48 GB is just a bit too little for what I need, but since the platform and memory were announced the 96 GB kits seem to have disappeared from being listed everywhere. For now, I have Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 7200 MHz memory, but really want CUDIMM to fully leverage the platform's capabilities.

Unfortunately, the problem mentioned in this thread does not concern the motherboard you mentioned, the thread concerns the MSI Z890 Gaming Plus WiFi board.

But referring to the problem itself, Intel Ai Boost works correctly, however, the problems with the full performance of CUDIMM in MSI products have not been solved and it is terribly lame.

Best Regards,

Marcin B.

@PriestHunt - I appreciate and understand that. The issue though I am sure is on the Z890 / 200 platform as I was experiencing the same as you.

My reply was directed at the person immediately above my reply, @GhostMotley who does have the exact motherboard I do, also experiencing the same issue, and maybe resolved with the new BIOS update released for the Tomahawk that now has the MR3 update included. Apologies for any confusion, perhaps I should've tagged the person I was replying to.
