Hi everyone,

I’m working on a project using an Intel NUC as the core control unit, and I’m trying to interface it with the DY-SV17F Mini Voice Playback Module. It has 4 MB onboard flash, a built-in 5 W Class D amp, DAC output, and supports UART, IO-trigger, or single-bus control. It feels like a great fit for adding voice prompts to system status alerts.

Here’s the deal.

I initially tried UART mode via a USB-to-TTL adapter connected to the NUC, but commands don’t seem to trigger playback. no sound, and no busy or response signals. I’ve also attempted the IO-trigger method, wiring a virtual COM output pin from a Python GPIO interface, but the module doesn’t respond consistently. sometimes it plays a track, other times nothing even though LEDs flicker. I’m uncertain about voltage level. the module is 5 V while my board’s GPIO is 3.3 V through a level shifter. Was hoping the trigger scheme was simpler.

Tips on the best mode to interface with a PC (UART vs. IO-trigger)? Level shifting recommendations for safe, reliable command signaling? Any quirks with modules initializing in different modes via software control?

It’d be awesome to get the DY-SV17F working as a voice feedback device without adding too much extra hardware.

Thanks in advance!
Jordan
