Hello, im planning for my next pc build to buy a core ultra 245k or 265k, what would be the characteristics to look on a motherboard regarding power delivery? I know that these are k processors meant to be overlock , but because the non k versions are much more expensive. I want the cheapest possible motherboard for these cpu's in order to not throttle, i wont plan to overlock.

Thank you in advance
Best regards

Hi ArrowBear,

You should look for a motherboard that supports at least 150W Max TDP to properly handle the Intel Core i5-245K’s power requirements. This ensures the motherboard can deliver sufficient power during peak performance and sustained workloads.

The Max TDP specification in compatibility tools is an important factor, as it indicates the motherboard’s capability to manage the processor’s power demands effectively.

However, for detailed information about power phase design and how many power phases are required to fully support the i5-245K’s maximum turbo boost without throttling, it’s best to coordinate directly with the motherboard manufacturer. They can provide specific recommendations based on the board’s design.

Since your query has been fully addressed, I will now proceed to close this thread. Please note that this thread will no longer be monitored by Intel.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,

Patrick V.

Intel Customer Support Technician
