Hello, I would like to ask for some information about APO. I’ve always used the old APO application and it worked well for me (I have a 14600K, a Z790 Aorus Pro X WiFi 7, and a 5070 Ti). I was getting performance gains and I used it in games like Final Fantasy XIV, World of Warcraft, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Then I had an issue with an XTU update and I wasn’t able to use APO for quite some time.

Now that the Arrow Lake refresh has been released, a new version of APO has come out: the old one from the Microsoft Store has been removed, and the new version is available on Intel’s website. I was reading the FAQ for this new version, and it says that depending on your configuration, the list of available titles may change.

For example, I used APO with Final Fantasy XIV, where I was getting up to 25% gains (in CPU‑bound scenarios, when there’s a lot happening on screen).

What I wanted to ask is: has my processor been excluded from Final Fantasy XIV now? To be honest, I didn’t just lose Final Fantasy XIV: in this new version I can’t see most of the titles I used before, like World of Warcraft and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Now it only shows a very small selection of games. So with this version, it seems that I can no longer access the optimizations I was using before with the old APO version? o.O

The new APO has a different supported game list, so some titles available before may no longer appear. If your BIOS and Intel drivers are up to date, it's likely Intel changed support rather than an issue with your system. Hopefully those profiles return in a future update.

The same games that were available before are still there… FFXIV, WoW… it’s just that now I can’t run them on my CPU anymore. And nothing changed in my BIOS: it’s the exact same BIOS I had when I was using my old CPU.

I understand that this feature was introduced for Raptor Lake… you know, you release a new refresh and you want to give all the new stuff to the new CPUs. I don’t agree with that: if something benefits the whole architecture, why not give it to everyone? Fine, whatever… but removing something that you were already using?

Let me repeat: the games weren’t removed. Access to the games was removed. Now I have a tiny list of titles I can actually launch.

Look, I’m not as smart as they are —they make fantastic CPUs and they’re definitely the top of the tech we have. But considering the current DIY market… this doesn’t feel like the right move on LGA1700, where despite everything that happened the only people left are those who didn’t switch to something else. Bah…

I mean, on this socket the people left are Intel’s OG customers… basically the last ones still remaining in the DIY market. It doesn’t seem like the smartest move to make.

Let me give you an example: I bought the 5070 Ti recently. When the 5000 series launched, at the beginning only the 5090 and 5080 were released — my 5070 Ti was supposed to come out the following month. During that first month, on my 2070 I had DLSS 4 working perfectly, giving me around 40% more performance in any game and better visual quality. Lol.
