How to Read (save) RAID 1 disc without RAID controller

Hi,

I have an MSI Pro z790-p wifi mobo. I installed a Raid 1 pair of Seagate barracuda discs. (2TB ea).

My SSD system drive died and I am struggling to get the Raid controllers set up on a clean install of Windows 11 on a new SSD. I cannot lose the data.

I want to know how to read / mount 1 of my Seagate drives for read only so that I can back up the data to another drive (5TB portable storage disc.).

(Once done then I can try to get the Raid reinstalled but some of that data is more important than I had realized and mustn't lose it.)

I read something about the MBR being larger on the RAID disc than for a normal disc and that it is possible to exclude that data band when mounting the drive so that it can be read. How do I do that please.

Thank you for reaching out. I understand that you would like to know how to read/save your Raid 1 disc without RAID Controller.

Since you have mentioned that you were using RAID 1, please answer the following questions:

What are you currently using? Intel RST or a another RAID Controller utility?
Was the operating system installed on the current RAID setup?
What is the reason why you removed the RAID setup from your Motherboard?
What is the current status of your RAID setup? Does it still show as RAID volume, or are the drives operating as standalone disks?
