Which version of Intel Rapid Storage Technology should I install?

My question is - which version of Intel Rapid Storage Technology should

I install for the situation I describe below?

I have a Dell XPS 8100 desktop from 2010 in which I just installed a new

1TB WD Black Performance (WDC WD1003FZEX-00K3CA0) system hard drive and

it also has an old 640GB WD (WDC WD6400AAKS-75A7B0) data hard drive from

2010.

This Dell is running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit and the original

Intel Rapid Storage Technology v9.5.0.1037, dated 10/2/2009.

After I restored a Macrium Reflect image from the old system hard drive

to the new hard drive everything appears to be working fine except that

the Temporary Internet Files settings for Internet Explorer 11 are gone.

When I try to restore and save these settings I keep getting this error

message:

Please select a value between 8 and 8 for how much disk space Temporary

Internet Files may use.

Some people are able to fix this problem by reinstalling Intel RST.

But I don't know which version of Intel RST I should install with the

original desktop components from 2010, a hard drive from 2010, and a new

system hard drive from 2017.

Which version of Intel Rapid Storage Technology should I install for the

situation I describe above?

Ok, these are the drivers that already are on my system. I would like to reinstall them to see if that fixes my problem.

My concerns are:

What might happen (break) if I reinstall the version 9.5.0.1037 IRST drivers?

Do I need to uninstall the current IRST drivers before I reinstall them?

Or can I reinstall over top of the current drivers?

Will these old IRST drivers from 2009\2011 really support the new hard drive from this year?

Is there any point in researching newer IRST drivers if he latest ones Dell has for the XPS 8100 are version 9.5.0.1037?

Hello optiquest,

Intel® Rapid Storage Technology is mostly used if you have a RAID configured on your system; if you don't have a RAID configured there is no need to have it installed.

Now, you have an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) system and the one offer by your computer manufacture is the proper one for your system because is the one compatible with your system chipset, if you try to install latest version we cannot guarantee that it will work properly specially because your system manufacturer may have customized your system to work especially for this version.

You can try later versions and you should be able to download them here:
