topic What drivers do I need for IDE mode? in Rapid Storage Technology

I recently tried switching from AHCI to IDE mode to solve a software issue in Windows 7 (64-bit) and the SATA controller on my Z97 motherboard was detected as Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller using the Microsoft windows drivers. I tried a few different Intel RST drivers and none is detected as an update. What drivers do I need for IDE mode?

kyriacos, Thank you very much for joining the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology communities.

To answer your question, remember that if you change the SATA mode from AHCI to IDE a re-installation of Windows from scratch will be necessary. The RST will not work on IDE mode, it will only work on RAID or AHCI mode. Now, normally when you are doing the installation of Windows, there should be an "inbox" driver provided by Microsoft that gets installed automatically to allow you to use the system on IDE mode. If the problem persists after that, then the best thing to do will be to get in contact with Microsoft directly for further assistance:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/ https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards

Alberto
