LIthium ion battery on AXXRSBBU8

If the onboard battery of the AXXRSBBU8 BBU is old and depleted, can it be replaced with just a new battery, or does the entire AXXRSBBU8 need to be purchased again? If the answer is yes to just replacing the battery, what is a good source for purchasing the battery?
