Uncorrectable Memory Error & Patrol Scrub

I am looking for articles/papers/documentation that relates to Uncorrectable Memory Errors on Xeon based server platforms. Specific interest area is Patrol Scrub.

Can enabling Patrol Scub lead to reporting of Uncorrectable Errors that would not otherwise occur if Patrol Scrub is disabled? What are the risks associated with disabling Patrol Scrub?

Memory Demand and Patrol Scrubbing: Demand scrubbing is the ability to write corrected data back to the memory once a correctable error is detected on a read transaction. Patrol scrubbing proactively searches the system memory, repairing correctable errors. It prevents accumulation of single-bit errors. Thus, there are risks at disabling it.
