Urgent! Very slow write speed to SSD-s

We sold 2 brand new servers and both have the same configuration and both have the same issue-very slow writing speed.

Configuration:

Xeon S4110

S2600WFT

RMS3CC040

SSD D3-4510 4 pcs in RAID5 mode.

8x32 GB 2666MHz ECC memory.

SSDs FW updated t the latest available

Board FW updated to latest available.

Speed test screenshot attached, all other test give the same result.

What is the solution of this problem?

I understand that your clients are experiencing slow performance on two systems sold with the same configuration.

In an effort to better assist you, can you please confirm the following:

To which firmware version, you updated the SSDs and Server Board?
Were both working fine before?
Can you please ask the client extract the full RAID log? This can be done by following the below steps:

Either boot to UEFI, or open a command line as Administrator (Windows*) or root (Linux*).
Download the StorCLI Standalone utility and run storcli /call show AliLog logfile=raidlog.txt.

For Intel® RAID Controllers in non-RAID mode (IT, target, JBOD, or raw), use Windows Event Viewer (Windows) or var/log/messages (Linux).

Older discontinued Intel® RAID Controllers may only be compatible with CmdTool2. For those Intel® RAID Controllers, run CmdTool2 –AdpAliLog –aAll –NoLog > saslog.txt.

storcli show all

may be easier to read, but does not have the logs included.

storcli show alilog

has logs included.

Alternatively, for the hardware Intel® RAID Controller cards, if your system is running the Intel® RAID Web Console 2 Utility, you can extract the TTY logs, too:

Have also updated the RAID Controller firmware?

Hello,

We did some tests and seems that problem is related to this raid controller or it's firmware:

Intel SSDs S4510: RAID0 - speeds are OK, RAID5-very slow.

Samsung 860 Pro: RAID0 - OK, RAID5-slow.

We changed RAID controller to RS2BL040 and every configuration worked fine:

RAID0 and RAID5 speeds are ok with intel and Samsung SSDs

Hello Jeremiah,

We are running latest available FW for RMS3cc040 ver. 24.21.0-0091

We also tried to downgrate one and two versions back of FW, but it didn't solve the issue.

Our next step is to try ordinary PCIe RS3 series controller.

As RS2 series controller works well, RS3 should also work fine, at least we hope.

We ordered a new RS3 card, it will take time while it arrives. Seems like, we will be able to test next week only.

Hello,

we got rs3 raid card today and had a possibility to test all combinations. As a result; same problem with rs3 card, very slow write speeds. we just change raid card to rs2 -all works perfect, but when changing it to rs3 or rms3 writing soeed if slow again.

also we tested rs3dc040 controller with another platform and there was also very slow writing. Problem seems to be related to controller.

hello,

after many tests we were able to solve this issue.

if we use ssd and uefi installation, the following raid card configuration should be done. strip size 256 kb and read policy have to change to read ahead. take a look at screenshot attached.
