Intel® PRO/1000 MT Dual Port Server Adapter - Link Aggregation with ONE adapter?

Hello,

I have NAS Synology DS1511+ which supports Link Aggregation (2x). Is it possible to use "Intel® PRO/1000 MT Dual Port Server Adapter" with this device in order to achieve link aggregation? My point is I don´t want to use two ethernet cards if necessary.

Yes, you can link both ports on that card together.

And how is it done? Via some specific runtime application by intel?

Unfoturnately you cannot create a team with that adapter in Windows 7. The Intel® PRO/1000 MT Dual Port Server Adapter only has base driver support provided by the driver included in Windows by Microsoft. Intel does not have any software for teaming that adapter in Windows 7.

Thank you Mark. It seems that either Intel Gigabyte ET, ET2 or EF is my choice. But I can´t find anywhere what is the difference between them. Do you have a clue?

The main differences are the number of ports and the physical media. All of the adapters with "T" in the name use twisted-pair copper. The adapter with "F" in the name uses fiber. If you want a two copper adapter the http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=50397 Intel® Gigabit ET Dual Port Server Adapter is the one you want.

If you want to have four ports, then the http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=49187 Intel® Gigabit ET2 Quad Port Server Adapter is the best choice.
