Hi huangwentao,

Thank you for your response.

Disabling Intel® Speed Select Technology - Base Frequency may lead to all cores operating at the same performance level, as this technology allows for the application of a higher base frequency to high-priority cores. Also, would prevent the high-priority cores from receiving a higher base frequency compared to low-priority cores. Without it, the cores may not benefit from the enhanced base frequency, potentially resulting in uniform performance across all cores. However, the specific impact on performance can vary based on the workload and the configuration of the processor.

Please find the article below for your reference:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000094490/processors/intel-xeon-processors.html

Regards,

FIkri_Intel

My server processor, Xeon Gold 6430 has 32 cores, but I just recently found out that 12 of the cores are high priority cores while the rest 20 are low priority cores. Is there any ways to enforce all these cores run at the same level of performance without difference in "priority".

Any recommended configurations or settings?

Many thanks!

Hello huangwentao,

Greetings from Intel!

Thank you for posting on Intel Community. To manage the high priority cores in Xeon processors we offer Intel® Speed Select Technology (Intel® SST) technology. It offers flexible performance profiles that allow you to adjust core counts and clock speeds to meet your specific computing requirements.Kindly follow the below article for your reference,

Managing Intel® Speed Select Technology (Intel® SST) Performance Profiles on Intel® Xeon® Processors

Please don’t hesitate to contact us for any further assistance.

Thank you for using Intel products and services.

Regards,

Vikas_Intel

Hi, I've tried to disable/enable Intel SST Base Frequency via:

      sudo intel-speed-select base-freq disable/enable -a

and turning of off turbo via:
      echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo

but see no time difference between enable/disable.

Here is a my C code for the benchmark, and the respective printout of the two configurations are:

I am wondering why they look no difference.
