I hope this is a simple question.

I use the Eagle Stream Archer City and Birch Stream Avenue City platforms for memory product validation. I want to ensure I have the latest UEFI/BIOS for these platforms. The packages I see on Intel.com all require flash programming. I can flash the BIOS directly, but the physical directions are buried among the documentation.

I would prefer just using a USB drive to update the BIOS of these platforms with a UEFI utility, but I can not find any packages for this on the developer website. All the update utility packages I found for Eagle stream specifically state, "Not for Archer City". Is there a reason these specific platforms lack simple BIOS update packages?

If it is my only option I do not have a problem programming flash devices directly. The platforms have EEPROM "coffins" that would simplify the process with the right programmer socket combination, but I need the documentation to ensure I program the correct parts with the correct images.

These platforms have been essential for my validation and I can't afford downtime. I prefer the UEFI update utility because it validates images for compatibility, and ensures they are programmed to the correct device. Without explicit directions I do not want to flash the EEPROMs directly.

An essential part of my validation is post processing the MRC RMT results. I want to make sure that any updates I make support debug output through serial ports. I am very concerned that I may lose capability if I update the BIOS without a backup of the current BIOS.

Also, since you are looking to update the BIOS using USB drive, have you try steps in link below?

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000020746/server-products.html

We look forward for your response.

Regards,

Sazzy_Intel

Intel Customer Support Technician

I attached a PDF print of the links I used to order the platforms originally. The links are below:

https://designintools.intel.com/avenue-city-2s-rp-vol-open-chassis.html

https://designintools.intel.com/archer-city-2s-rp-vol.html

Thanks,

Brian

While I did receive the BIOS update packages including instruction for my platforms, I have a follow up question. The packages came with CPLD and FPGA updates.

Are the CPLD and FPGA updates mandatory, or can I update the BIOS and BMC EEPROM chips independent of the CPLD and FPGA updates?
