Native Resolution Problem (Laptop)

I'm stuck with absolutely no idea where to turn to next...maybe one of y'all can help me out....
I'm running an Acer Aspire 5610z (laptop) that hasn't been hardware-upgraded, except for the memory. It's running:

Pentium-M T2060

15.4" monitor (WXGA Acer CrystalBrite)

80 GB hard drive

2 GB DDR2 memory (upgraded from 512 MB)

Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset

It orginally came with Vista, and worked fine (since June 2007) until early April. I booted it up one evening and the screen went from it's native resolution of 1200x800 (widescreen) to 1024x768 (4/3 size). So now, along the left side of my screen, I have a black bar that is about 2.5" wide, and the bottom 1/4" of screen repeats what is the last pixel of the display.

I've tried everything I know---updating the drivers, trying old driver versions, reformatting the computer with Vista, etc. I've now reformatted back to Windows XP, but the screen problem has remained, even through all the driver changes I've done since then as well.

The monitor driver defaults back to a flat panel 1024x768 when I upgrade video drivers. Sometimes, the problem would go away with restarting the computer, but I never found a common thing I was doing to fix it. I feel it was more random than anything.

I'm still running XP, and everything else works great. I've always been able to handle computer problems (worked at my high school for several years doing networking), but I'm completely lost now. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Below is the diagnostic data from the Intel graphics program:
