IXDP465 OS Support

Hi,
We have recently acquired the IXDP465 platform and are looking at our options in terms of operating system support. From what we can tell our only choices to get all board functions working are MontaVista Linux or VxWorks. It seems that there is no driver support for any other linux kernel, is this the case? Are we locked into using one of these proprietry OS's if we wish to take advantage of the high speed serial interface, DSP and other XScale specific hardware features? We have inquired into pricing for both these operating systems and were taken aback at the very high cost. We only have one developer and MontaVista's minimum licensing terms is for three seats. We were initially hoping to roll our kernel using GNU tools however this is looking increasingly impossible.
