Memory remapping with Core Duo

My (embedded) software is on the memory-hungry side, so I'm looking for a board that would let me use the Core Duo with a full 4 GB memory configuration. The Core Duo would be preferrable over the P4 series due to cooling considerations.

It is my understanding that only the higher-end (such as 955x and the upcoming p965) chipsets support memory remapping (ie: pushing the last gig of memory to the 4..5 GB range), and without that feature I lose the last half or full gig of memory to the BIOS and PCIX MMIO ranges. I would naively imagine that the CPU has to have a 36 bit physical address bus (and PAE support, obviously) for the remapping to work even on those chipsets. From the pin layour section of the data sheets it looked like Core Duo is strictly 32 bit.

Am I missing something, or is the Core Duo only practical to use for 3 GB of RAM or less?
