Will Compaq produce a version of the Fortran compiler that supports the new 64 bit Intel processors? If so, on what timescale?

We are currently in beta test with a compiler, libraries and tools that
run on either IA32 Windows 2000 or IA64 Windows XP systems and generate
native IA64 Windows XP executables. The compiler and tools operate in the
command-line environment only, as Microsoft has not yet provided, nor
committed to delivering, a "Visual" IDE for IA64 systems.

An updated beta kit will be made available to the public later this
year. We expect to continue in beta test through the end of 2001.
Given the high level of uncertainty regarding the MS development
environment, our plans after that are unknown.

Steve
