      <description>HI, &lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;if in a user defined type I have a Character*10 (or whathever length of course), is the string null termineted or is not (as normally they are not in FORTRAN).  &lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;Thnanks Luca</description>
