While trying to install an evaluation version of the Intel(R) Parallel Studio XE 2015 Cluster Edition for Windows, the option for installing Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Shell is greyed out and a “Valid license not found” message appears

Further on in the installation the following options for installing ‘Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Software’, ‘Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Software’ and ‘Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Software’ were greyed out and un-selectable.

The installation package claimed to be installing the following:

Intel Visual Fortran Compiler XE 15.0

Intel Math Kernel Library 11.2

…etc

but when complete ( without any apparent error), there is no sign of the Inter Visual Fortran compiler in my Windows menu. I get a ‘Intel Parallel Studio XE 2015’ folder with various software underneath, just no compiler?

Can you help?

The evaluation version will work with the trial versions of VS 2010, 2012, or 2013, which you must download (from Microsoft) and install first.

Having got the evaluation

Having got the evaluation version working satisfactorily, I bought a floating 2-user version of Intel(R) Parallel Studio XE 2015 Fortran for Windows.

I have more than one issue with installation:

Intel Software License Manager installation hangs on two fairly standard Windows 2008 Servers, I’m not sure what else I can do, I need a license server? Are there known issues with this, I couldn't find any?

The parallel studio installs lots of software, just not the compiler ( I appreciate it could be licensing, see above). I thought Visual Studio might be the issue but the documentation points out that the “Visual Studio Shell does not support use of Intel C++ Compiler XE – it is for use with Intel Visual Fortran Compiler XE only". Am I missing a trick here, is there a simpler set of installation instructions ( I found myself going round in circles on the Intel help pages)?

Regards

Mike Thomas

Mike,

Yes, for running floating licenses you need the Intel® Software License Manager. Could you let me details what exactly fails? Is the downloaded license manager file correct? Please compare the checksum (I guess you are running a 64-bit W2k8):

>cksum w_isl_server_p_2.3.0.002_intel64.exe
467549273 12252312 w_isl_server_p_2.3.0.002_intel64.exe

Did you run the self-extracting exe with admin rights?

Regards, Hubert.

Mike,

For product installation on clients, please remove the .lic file from

c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intel\Licenses\ or c:\Program Files\Common Files\Intel\Licenses\ on 32-bit Windows OS

if you installed your eval license with license file.

Then try installing Intel® Parallel Studio Composer Edition for Fortran using your serial number which requires that it's already registered. After successful installation you can set up the license manager.

Regards, Hubert.
