I still can not get AdMob to work, and have not been successful in finding anyone who can help me. The tutorials seem to be for people already more familiar with coding than I.

AdMob only works with a plugin, it cannot be done like you would do in a browser. It does require some programming skills. There are other ad networks out there that can be used without plugins. You'll have to search for them. We are not able to make any recommendations.
