Hi everyone,

The new Unity 5.1 is now available for download from the Unity website. This release is focused on adding support and performance increases for new and existing Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality devices, as well as offering a new system to make multiplayer programs easier to create,

I upgraded my project to 5.1. The most important thing, of course, was that the RealSense camera still worked. Furthermore, Unity's promise of better performance for VR / AR seemed to be true. Just like Unity 5.0 had provided a significant speed increase to RealSense, 5.1 provided a further boost on top of that.

The movement of the limbs of my project's full-body avatar was noticeably faster and rotating the avatar to walk in a different direction - which had previously been a bit like slowly turning a heavy truck - was now as smooth and quick as ice skating.

Unity 5.1 definitely gets my A+ recommendation for upgrading to!
