topic Play Store Licensing Key- How to implement in Software Archive

I'm ready to publish my paid app to the Google Play Store. The Google developer console generates a License Key and says I should add this to the binary file. I've hunted around this and other forums and have been unable to find a simple list of steps I should take to add the license key. I did find references to creating a .keystore file but how is this file created and is there anything else I need to do to have the license key checked when the user launches the app?

It feels like there should be a pretty standard set of steps for all paid apps but I can't find any details on it. I'd really appreciate any suggestions, I must be missing something very obvious.

Thanks,

This is not necessary and you can skip it. You can create a paid app without adding your license key.

Ulrich, thanks that's a very useful resource I hadn't come across before. I've bookmarked it for future reference.

John, thanks, you just saved me a lot of time. For anyone else following this thread I hunted around and found this https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/186113?hl=en - specifically on that page it says

"...Please note that starting with JellyBean release of Android OS, all apps, paid as well as free, are encrypted by default, and therefore, do not require any additional protection against unauthorized copying such as Google Licensing Server. If you only develop for devices running JellyBean, you don't need Google Licensing Server...."
