Remote debugging can't reconnect

I'm successfully using remote debugging in WiFi mode. However, when the phone locks, the connection to XDK is lost, and when I unlock it, the connection isn't reinstated. I can restart the app on the phone and that reinstates the connection. However, isn't there a way to do it without restarting the app?

Edit: Also, sometimes the 'Remote' tab in the remote debugger shows a connection (a Target) (in green) but when a console.log happens, it doesn't get shown in the 'Console' tab. Again, restarting the app on the phone fixes that. I haven't been able to ascertain when this problem tends to happen, but it has happened 2 times so far.

I recommend debugging with the Debug tab, rather than the Test tab. It will provide much a better debug experience. See this doc page for more details: https://software.intel.com/en-us/xdk/docs/intel-xdk-debug-and-test-overview

If you prefer to continue to use the Test tab, you can "force" the display of your device to stay on via the debug options in the phone. There is a setting in the Developer Options on your device that will allow you to keep your display on when the device is plugged and charging. See the "stay awake" item in the image below for an example from a Samsung phone:
