Trying to install m_fcompxe_2016.2.049.dmg up to the point when it tries to reach out for the license server. The error message and https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/product-activation-failed brought me here.
Hi Joachim,

Hi Joachim,

I looked up our database, and found that you have two student licenses, which don't require license server. How did you attempt to activate the product? With a serial number or with a license file? Please try to generate a license file and activate with it. Please follow the instructions here: https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/how-do-i-get-a-license-file-for-an-offline-installation-of-intel-parallel-studio-xe-2016

Hope this helps.

Dear Mr. Feilong,

Dear Mr. Feilong,

after trying again today, it worked! I did enter the serial number during the installation process as requested. So I think I won't need the license file. If I set up my mac in a lab environment with no access to the internet, would the license file be working when not connected to the internet at all? Because then I would - as a precaution - get the license file, too. Thanks.

Hi Joachim,

Glad to hear that! When you don't have internet connection, activating with license file is the only option for you. If you have internet connection, you may activate either with serial number or with license file.
