Hi All

I have a question I would like to ask, but first, since I am new here please forgive my ignorance if I seem idiotically stupid in what I am asking!

I have a mac mini with the GMA 950 Intel Graphics Chipset, according to the specs this gives me 64mb of graphics memory which is used off my main system ram. I have 4 gb of ram in my system and I am wondering if it is at all possible for Intel to 'update' the current driver to allow it to use more system ram to boost video/gaming performance?

Thanks!
C

babyinateacup:

I have a mac mini with the GMA 950 Intel Graphics Chipset, according to the specs this gives me 64mb of graphics memory which is used off my main system ram. I have 4 gb of ram in my system and I am wondering if it is at all possible for Intel to 'update' the current driver to allow it to use more system ram to boost video/gaming performance?

Intel datasheet says it uses up to 224MB memory:
http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/gma950/index.htm

Although DVMT 3.0 whitepaper only mentions 128MB:
http://www.intel.com/assets/pdf/whitepaper/307508.pdf

Anyway: If you update to Leopard 10.5.4 the maximum memory that is supported on Mac platform using GMA 950 should be available.

It's not only about video memory: The GMA 950 is a slow chipset regarding 3D performance. Even 512MB wouldn't help you.
