Hi,

Our project relies on Intel IAS for remote attestation, and we use service provided at https://api.trustedservices.intel.com for that.

Lately we notice some of the requests made to https://api.trustedservices.intel.com will timeout, is there any rate limit enforced on the service or any measure we can take to mitigate this issue?

Example

(https://api.trustedservices.intel.com/sgx/attestation/v4/sigrl/00000c13): operation timed out

Hello KingLi,

We received this response from engineering:

We are not using rate limiting on this specific API. Rate limiting would result in HTTP code 429 and not timeout. Timeout suggests a network layer issue.

Our monitoring systems did not detect any issues suggesting network layer problems – specifically no connection timeouts and in addition overall service response time seems normal.

To help diagnose the issue further it would be helpful if you could provide more details:

When did you start noticing the problem?

Provide time of example timeout failure. In other words, how long does it take to timeout?

What is the timeout threshold set on the client side?

To mitigate such issues one of the possible approaches is to use retry logic.

Sincerely,

Jesus G.

Intel Customer Support
