Hi Michael,

it seems that the BIOS on your system does not expose the QPI Link Layer Performance hardware monitors (QPI LL - described in Section 2.7 of the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 Product Family Uncore Performance Monitoring Guide). Please consult with your board vendor how these QPI monitoring devicescan be enabled in the BIOS.

Best regards,
Roman

Can not access SNB-EP (Jaketown) PCI configuration space. Access to uncore counters (memory and QPI bandwidth) is disabled.
You must be root to access these SNB-EP counters in PCM.
You need to be root and loaded 'msr' Linux kernel module to execute the program. You may load the 'msr' module with 'modprobe msr'.

I am running as "root". This is on a Dell R620 running CentOS v5.7. MSR is built into the stock kernel (not a module). Here is my /proc/cpuinfo file:

Hi Roman,

See above. Does that give any insight into the issue? Anything else I can post to be of assistance?

Thanks!

Hello Roman,

I am facing the same problem while running the pcm power tool on a Dell PowerEdge M620 - CentOS release 6.2 with kernel version 3.5.0+.
I can't seem to find anything related to QPI performance monitoring in BIOS.

Here are the outputs of pcm-power.x, lspci, ls -al /dev/mem and dmidecode

# ./pcm-power.x "sleep 1"

Hi,

Hi,

does a mother board of the family Intel S2600CO (S2600COE) support the QPI LL counters ? The CPUs are two E5-2690v2. The Bios was updated to support Ivy bridge processors. I didn't find any possibility to switch the export of performance monitoring devices in BIOS.

Thank's
